STARTING OVER IN PORTUGAL
Rebuilding life in a new country, small routines, and quiet courage.
Portugal slowed everything down for me. Softer mornings. New light. New strength.
I'm rebuilding my routine from scratch. Where I work. Where I walk. Where I think. Where I see. Starting over isn't a big dramatic moment. It's small decisions, every day. I edit my life a little at a time, closer to who I want to be.
I notice simple things now. Walking through quiet streets and smelling firewood in the air. Running for fifteen minutes by the water in Barreiro. Seeing Lisbon in the distance. It looks far, but it's only a twenty minute boat ride away. Visually far, but it feels close.
Working from home with the fireplace on. Spending time with the dog. Building my own website in silence. Letting ideas come naturally.
Creatively, I feel open again. I see things I never noticed in Toronto. The details. The pace. The stillness. The way life moves here.
The hardest part is the language. Not understanding everything. Not being able to fully express myself yet. But even that feels like part of becoming someone new.
Starting over in Portugal feels gentle. Honest. Human.
Not a reset. A realignment. Not escape. Growth. And somehow, that feels right.
